Residential: Install a drain water heat recovery unit and receive up to $400
Business: $1.00 per cubic metre of natural gas saved
Maximum assistance of $100,000, up to a limit of 50% of the cost of the project.
Social community: The EEF offers a rebate of $3 per cubic metre of natural gas saved on the purchase and installation of
a drain water heat recovery system. The maximum assistance granted is $100,000, up to a limit of
75% of the project.
Residential: A $200 rebate on the purchase of a drain water heat recovery unit
Institutional and commercial: Gazifère offers its commercial and institutional customers financial support of 25 ¢ per cubic
metre of natural gas saved, to a maximum of 70% of the cost of energy-saving measures, or
$10,000, whether for an existing building or the construction of a new one.
The proposed HRTC is a non-refundable tax credit for work performed or goods acquired in respect of an eligible dwelling. The credit will only be available for the 2009 tax year (after January 27, 2009 and before February 1, 2010) and applies to eligible expenditures of more than $1,000, but not more than $10,000, resulting in a maximum credit of $1,350 ($9,000 x 15%).
The Power-Pipe has been independently tested by the Canadian Government and the results prove the Power-Pipe can reduce water heating by 25% to 40%.
2. Does the Power-Pipe come in one size?
No the Power-Pipe comes in many size options. Size application varies by the amount of access you have to your drain stack.
3. What size of Power-Pipe does my customer need?
Measure the diameter of the drainstack and vertical span from fitting to fitting (then substract 5" for fittings). Size required is the diameter & length - 5".
4. How much will the customer save?
Depends on usage, water heating method etc. but on average for a 4 person home approximately $200 per year.
5. What happens if the customer is not using hot water?
Nothing. If there is no hot water being used, none will be recovered and you won't even know that a Power-Pipe is installed.
It consists of copper tubes wrapped around a copper drain pipe. The waste water from your shower flows down the copper drain pipe, clinging to the inner surface as a very thin film. At the same time, cold fresh water travels up through the wrapped copper tubes. The heat in the waste water travels safely and efficiently through the copper and into the cold fresh water. How could energy conservation be any simpler?
